Recording at Parr Street Sudios

So last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of returning to Parr St for our second day of recording my debut EP! Parr Street is a fantastic studio in Liverpool, with amazing gear and a fantastic live room making it a dream to record in and it's back catalogue of clients speaks wonders with names such as Coldplay, Elbow, Take That, Snow Patrol and John Mayer!

Resuming recording after a break has been really refreshing and exciting. I seriously can't wait to get even more recording done so this EP becomes a reality. So far we have recorded the Drums, Bass and Keyboards for all five songs with the a dream session band that I couldn't be happier with!

Drums:

Day 1: Justin Johnson

Justin is a wicked drummer from Washington, America. He regularly works at Parr Street, recording and producing Singer Songwriters like myself and Country music. Photo - Chris Howard

Day 2: Joe Clegg

Joe is also a fantastic drummer from Nelson, Lancashire, just down the road from me! He is notoriously known as being Drummer and Musical Director for Ellie Goulding. Being a musical director, Joe is very switched on when it comes to knowing what's necessary and to coming up with cool beats that keep up momentum in the songs. Photo - Tom Scothern

Bass:

Scott Whitley

Scott is another musician local to me. He's currently playing bass around the world for The Animals and tutoring bass locally. A seriously talented musician! Photo - Chris Howard

Keyboards:

Chris Howard

Chris is a Liverpool based multi instrumentalist and regular Parr Street session keys player. Being a songwriter himself he really helped bring the songs together with Grand Piano, Rhodes and Hammond Organ parts on the tracks because he could see the song from my point of view but also his individual perspective brought a new dimension to some songs. These guys all played a key part in getting this EP off the ground and the ball is now officially rolling. I can't wait to get guitars and vocals done over the next few weeks, I'm sure after that stage, we will be getting closer to sounding like a finished record. I can't wait for you to hear the music we're making because it's exactly what I imagined and more!

I'm super excited about this, there will be more blog posts to come as we do more sessions etc.

Let me know what you think of these and share with your friends if you like!

Thanks a lot

Tom.
